From the point of view of George Lucas, you all were counting wrong the entire time. The correct and the most authentic way is to count 4, 5, 6, 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 9. Yes — that is the arrangement in which the famous space movies, Star Wars, came on the cinematic screens. The series began in 1977 and became a worldwide phenomenon among all the inter-galactic lovers with a blink of eyes.
Soon, we started to see many Star Wars Costumes at the costume parties, and people quickly adopted the characters from the movie. Until now, there are a total of 9 Star War movies available for us to enjoy, and nobody is getting enough of them — we want nine more! While you must be calling yourself the biggest Star Wars fan, here are facts about the franchise that you (probably) wouldn’t know already.
REAL-LIFE BATTLE CINEMATOGRAPHY:
Lucas used old footage from World War II news to come up with what he wanted to show in the film. He wanted something that looks real and, at the same, gives the audience the nerve-wracking thrill. ILM eventually got matched with the battle among Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and the TIE warriors, and he finally succeeded in finding the newsreel that worked!
HAN SOLO GOT SAVED BY GEORGE IN EPISODE 6:
Gary Kurtz was all geared up to kill Han in 1983’s ‘Return of the Jedi.’ As written in the initial draft, the Rebel team is scattered, and Luke vanishes from the scene. But luckily, George knew the desire of our hearts, and he decided that if the leading figures would get killed, what will remain for the audience? He then gave the ending in the form of a massive Ewok party. So smooth George, we didn’t get a hint!
MEETS & GREETS ARE ORGANIZED WITHOUT THE REAL VILLAIN:
The villain of the franchise, Darth Vader, played by David Prowse, hasn’t appeared in any of the events themed on Star Wars. Surprisingly right! While you must be thinking that he is an introvert who doesn’t like being in people, you are officially wrong. He is forbidden from entering into the Star Wars affairs by the creator, George Lucas. The reason? He finds him irritating and annoying.
YODA — A MONKEY OR A MUPPET?
Yoda’s identity has been left a mystery by Lucas throughout the nine episodes. He is not even a muppet, so if you were thinking of him as one, then your whole life is a lie. He was voiced over by the iconic Frank Oz and was produced by Jim Henson. It is also reported that he was so close to being portrayed by an adorable monkey. As written in the book about the assembling of Star Wars, the cute creature was all-set to be described as a cute monkey with a cane — thank god it didn’t happen!
AN EXPRESSION STATED IN EACH EPISODE!
You must have heard an expression in each episode. ‘I have a bad feeling about this’ is spoken by almost every personality in the movie series, and if you have already noticed, then you are officially the hugest Star Wars fan ever. And if you didn’t, then you are welcome!
HARRISON HAD VERY CLOSE COMPETITORS FOR HAN’S CHARACTER:
Lucas was looking for some fresh face with whom he had never worked before. The casting took him almost seven months, during which he got extremely lucky in landing his eyes on the villain of American Graffiti — Harrison Ford. Burt Reynolds alongside Jack Nicholson and even the very handsome Kurt Russell are reported as the toughest candidates for this character, but Harrison’s dialogue delivery stole the show!
UNUSUAL SOUND EFFECTS:
The last and the most exciting fact is how the special sound and recording effects are intelligently created. The noise of the lightsaber is prepared by mixing the tune of an ancient TV set’s image tube and the buzzing noise of a movie projector. Another interesting mix and match came into play with the tone of TIE warriors. It was the combination of the trumpet of an elephant and car racing on the road! Your favorite character, Chewbacca’s extraordinary voice, was generated by mixing the noises of many animals like lions, beers, and even dying animals. CRAZY!
So, which fact made your jaw drop the widest? It’s all of them, right! If these facts have refreshed your love for this amazing movie, then hurry up and go to the upcoming Halloween party by gearing up Star Wars Jackets because why not? Star Wars is and will always be in our hearts!
